Bebo’s Infrastructure Engineers are a critical part of the team across all consumer properties. These positions require a strong technical background and excellent interpersonal skills to implement small and large-scale projects to continue Bebo's aggressive growth and presence on the web. Our environment is fast-paced with user-centered iterative design and development cycles.

We are seeking a brilliant engineer for the Infrastructure team. All members of this team will have a significant role in shaping the technical direction of next generation web apps. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the core technology which powers the 40-million member Bebo community.

Experience working on high traffic/ high availability / large consumer facing websites dealing with the stuff on the backend, like the VMs, the memcached pool and the databases (esp. Oracle) to insure the site is always up and running at top speed.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • Java (Servlets, JMX, JMS, etc)
  • Able to write and debug multi-threaded code.
  • Scripting (Ruby, perl, etc.) - able to use a variety of tools to quickly gather data, do analysis and solve problems.

Bebo is seeking a Senior Web Developer to build, and manage complex integrated advertising solutions on the Bebo network. You will join a team creating solutions that generate tremendous revenues for the company working with top names fortune 500 and traditional media companies.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • Solid OO experience with good Java development skills.
  • Advanced HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Good sense of design and user interface basiscs.
  • Back-end web development experience (on Oracle) is a plus.

Most of our engineers have:

  • A degree BS/BA/MS in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years experience developing and shipping high-volume, consumer-facing web products.

Flash & Java Developer, Core Team, San Francisco

Bebo is seeking a Badass Flash Engineer who knows how to push the limits in Flash, and create super cool stuff that has not been done before, to join our superstars engineering tea. You will lead the design and implementation of complete products or modules to use in multiple apps. and used by millions of our friends. When the Flash work is done, and till you get the next great idea, you will be hacking some Java code in other application to create seamless and delightful experience for our global community.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • Passionate about making great products
  • At least couple of years and in-depth knowledge of Macromedia Flash, ActionScript 2.0 and DHTML.
  • Ability to develop clean, easily readable, object-oriented applications.
  • Good knowledge of all parts of web development from scalability and UI perspectives.

Bebo is looking for a site security engineer to make Bebo a great place for our members to hang out. You'll be building defenses against spam, bots and malware. You'll be working with a variety of folks in Bebo to help analyse problems and provide appropriate tooling to help them help you. You'll also be helping other teams write solid, secure code. You should be passionate about building good software.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • Java skills
  • Oracle skills
  • Proven track record buildilng scalable server systems

  • B.S. / M.S. Comp Sci or related fields
